Public Services (Energy)
Panama has privatized public sector services creating an undertaking by the private sector. This created the establishment of a new body of legislation to regulate and arbitrate these newly aligned activities. Two important regulatory agencies were created to provide oversight, they are the Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Públicos and the Autoridad de Proteccion al Consumidor y Defensa de la Competencia. They serve to protect consumers' interests and regulate numerous public services and utilities. Among these are energy, telecommunications, mining, transportation, and transportation services such as airports and other public terminals.
Our lawyers who specialize in the field of government contracts are highly skilled professionals who can provide counsel to those companies currently exercising concession rights to provide public services previously delivered by the government.
